Current Info

I hope everyone is doing well. I am looking forward to starting my 23rd year of teaching private swimming lessons on Friday, October 9th at Lawrence Athletic Club. I teach infants through adults and provide instruction to all experience levels: beginners to competitive to adult learn to swim.
Payment
The fee is $50.00 for a session of four individual private swim lessons; 10 minutes for infants 10-15 months; 15 minute lessons for children 16 months and older; and 20 minute lessons for adults. For families who enroll more than one member, the fee is $45 for each additional student. Payment is due on the first day of lessons. If cancellation is not given 24 hours prior to lessons beginning, full payment is due. Please refer to the next page of this letter for specific details, dates and times.

The 10 minute, 15 minute, and 20 minute lessons will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. You may either schedule your lessons consecutively (four days in a row), or sporadically (space lessons out within the month). I am also offering a swim practice group for those who qualify. The swim practice is 45 minutes (times and dates here). This group will work on circle swimming, quality stroke instruction and drills for all four competitive strokes, flip turns, streamline, racing dives and building endurance. This group will help prepare your child for a competitive swim team, and help them learn the proper technique for all competitive strokes. We host “mock swim meets” three times a year. There are four different practice times to choose from. Punch cards available and filed at the pool. If you have any questions, or would like to enroll, please sign up online here, or you may call me at home 785-749-2107. If I am not available, please leave me a message and I will return your call.

Claudine's Private Swim Program
For those of you that are new to my program, here is a brief synopsis of my background in swimming. I swam competitively for 11 years on the Lawrence Aquahawks, the city’s age group competitive swim team; and for two years on the Lawrence Sharks, the city’s master swim team. For eight years I was the developmental coach for the Aquahawks, for four years coached the Lawrence Sharks, and for the last three years have assisted in coaching the Lawrence Free State Boys swimming team. Just recently, I accepted an assistant coaching position again for the Lawrence Aquahawks. I also have a degree from the University of Kansas in Early Childhood Development. I have privately taught children and adults how to swim for over 20 years. I am an advocate for swimming for health and, more importantly being safe in the water. Twelve years ago I was trained on how to teach infants and toddlers water survival: a life saving method originated in the state of Florida (ISR-Infant Safety Recovery). I am constantly amazed by what children are capable of learning in the water, even at a young age.

I have selected and trained some former competitive swimmers (all with a minimum of five years teaching experience) to assist me with my growing business. I still will have one-on-one instruction with every student, but am able to help more children and adults learn to swim with the help of my wonderful staff. My assistants’ biographies will be available at the pool during lessons or I will be happy to mail one to you upon request. I am excited to have this help and look forward to teach more children and adults how to swim and be safe in the water!

Swimmingly,

Claudine Wroten
